Manzanita Beach below the forested headland of Neahkahnie Mountain

禅 · A Japanese garden by the sea

Stillness, a minute
from the Pacific.

A two-room bed & breakfast wrapped around a true Japanese garden in Manzanita, on Oregon's North Coast — with an outdoor soaking bath, an organic garden breakfast, and seven miles of open beach at the gate.

ようこそ · Welcome

A small house built
for slowing down.

Halfway down Manzanita's seven-mile beach, between Cannon Beach and the Nehalem jetty, a 1981 house was quietly restored into something rare on this coast — a retreat with the spirit of a Japanese inn.

Stone lanterns and moss, shoji screens and a cedar bath open to the sky; mornings of farm eggs and coast air; the ocean three hundred yards off and the whole headland of Neahkahnie rising to the south. Two rooms only, so the quiet stays quiet.
